Sacred Flame

SACRED FLAME Let others speak in praise as well they may Of nature green, untouched by human hand A perfect Eden, God, sole would defray That we should tend unchanged, this virgin land When He incarnate made that brief outreach In human form participating here It seems to me his mission was to teach Bequeath responsibility of care Thus we were blest with talents and desire To build and to enhance the world we own Set deep within there burns a sacred fire Creativity is ours, be it on loan So let the works of mankind be esteemed Divinity within is thus redeemed

very thoughtful. yes, man has stewardship over the earth to do things to benefit ourselves but not at the expense of hurting the earth.

This is a marvelous sonnet, methinks. On-point message, balancing some of the extreme 'environment-think' prevalent today in a flowing sonnet form. Huzzah! Light and Illumination, Gershon

Yes our creativity is a divine gift. I used to get a little miffed when on a walk in nature I would hear—a plane, the hum of cars, loud conversations… I felt corrected that we are part of nature, too. No longer miffed. A beautiful sonnet. Thank you for sharing your excellent work here :) fav

I too have resented intrusions of the works of others, that I chose to reject. Perhaps age has brought more appreciation of ALL creation (well not quite all!)

Hi Geoffrey. Love your blessed "Sacred Flame." I have often thought, of course just being a simple mortal, I probably have it wrong, my interpretation of "The Kingdom Already inside of me" -- but, what do I want for my children? To be as good as me? Have as much? Or greater and far more? When one gives of himself, for love, one is never diminished...but in fact, ever grander.

Simple mortal? Your creativity that is apparent, points to divinity within. Thanks as always for your response, Joe.
