S.A.D. ( Seasonal Affective Disorder)
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A grey fog shrouds the land,
it suffocates my soul.
Depression falls like the rain,
pulling me into its hole.
No spark of sun nor glimpse of blue,
grey is all I see.
The sky, the earth and myself.
The grey is inside of me.
Winter blues, it has a name.
Aptly fitting I'm sure.
As I sit here sadness reigns
and begs me for a cure.
Come out, come out, come out and play.
Ignore this weather, unkind.
Push the darkness far away.
At least out of your mind.
Easier said than done that is.
The grey reigns over all.
So as the rain falls to the earth,
likewise, my teardrops fall.
An excellent expression of how the weather can change our moods Francine. I hope the sun shows his face soon. 7 ; )
Ahhhh! You have painted a very sad picture, but I know the sun will eventually come out and lift you up again. Great writing, Francine. Lainey
This disorder affects many in higher northern latitudes. You have described the experience pervasively here.
thanks Robert, its a miserable gloomy day here today, I've popped my vitamin D and B12 and have the stereo cranked, combatting it as best I can
You describe the winter weather and the feelings associated with it perfectly, Francine. We do need to spend more time outside if we want to kick the blues when daylight hours are short. I'll be mailing things before Thanksgiving (Nov. 24). Cards will go out in December. Thanks for visiting my page, birthday buddy/ Hugs, Carolyn
Beautiful rhyme Francine:-) I think SAD affects many people Francine I know I feel much brighter and when the sun is shining.. the dull days of winter seem to last forever ...but we can write poetry about summer and blue skies and hopefully feel uplifted:-) hugs Jan xx
Such a sad piece but beautifully crafted. This flows smoothly and paints this sorrowed picture so well.
