Run

Three teen-age Halloweener's all costumed up A ghoul, a ghost, and a long-fanged pup To the lone house on the block, they all went trick-or-treat On the doorstep they all stood with their paws and their feet They knocked three times, all one-by-one Hoping for candy-givers to hear them all come Nobody answered, but the door opened up wide And a deep low voice- spoke "Dare come inside" So, they all held hands and they walked in together To warm up their bones, from the cold chilly weather They found a man in a chair, holding three bullets and a gun Then they ran like three rabbits- when he shouted... "Take the candy... (((AND RUN)))" Scary Halloween Poetry Contest Sponsor: Tania Kitchin 10/14/2022

Definitely "Run!" Charlie! What an creative and very innovative heart stopping Halloween tale! Well earned congratulations. BTW when you come trick or treating at our house you won't find a gun just a few wayward ghosts in a fog! Blessings to you!

Great write, very scary. Isn't there always that one house around that seems this way. The one all the kids have stories of. (hopefully just stories tho!)

That got them. Not quite the trick they expected. Talk about turning the tables! Congrats on your win, Charles. Terry

This is so funny Charlie, i would have run as fast as my legs would carry me. This is a real Halloween story, but guess the tables were turned this time, but they got the candy and the scare. That is what children want, good scary tale my friend Charlie. Hugs and blessings Jennifer.
