Rumors
Rumors
They said that you were dead, my friend
But I said “It couldn’t be
I spoke to him this morning”
And yet…I came to see
I didn’t believe it for a moment
For here you are with me
I’ll make a cup of tea
We’ll sit and chat a while
Although you’ll sit in silence
For lately, that’s your style
It’s really quite amusing
For just last week they said
That Billy Moore had passed away
And I know he isn’t dead
We had cocktails Monday evening
He was funny as could be
As we sat and reminisced
Nothing wrong that I could see
Dear Barbara Anne is gone…
I imagine that you knew
But I was relieved to find the rumor
About you wasn’t true
It’s time to go again my friend
It’s dinnertime for me
So I’ll put away my album
Till tomorrow, then we’ll see
If Billy Moore can join us
In a reunion…just we three
If you noticed there’s an empty space
Beside you…well you see
It’s a very special place
I’m saving it for me!
