Rumbling Ways

I can taste the rain, smell the rain,
Feel it in the air
But it isn't falling yet
Holding back, playing fair
Just the dampness,
Stirring with gray clouds
Until it's enough to storm
A sky will bellow loud
Nature yells in ways
What is it trying to say?
I can taste the rain
Before it speaks its rumbling ways

I love the smell of the air just before or just after a storm. Like your poem it is invigorating.

I can smell rain before it comes - it is better than the best perfume in the world - I breathe it in as if it gives me life - and the aftermath of rain, not heavy storms, is so enhancing. I love your poem Heidi, as I love the rain! Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

This is just perfect, Heidi. You have captured what we so often feel just prior to the rain, that heaviness / dampness in the air. Very, very nicely done! Best wishes, Gershon

Beautiful poetry, the coming of the storm. reminds me so much of the old farmers, here in the yorkshire dales, always knew of the pending storm, love the title and how its flows right to the end...

Being raised mostly in So. California I used to long for rain. After rain we could see the beautiful mountains. I can relate so well to your poem. You captured it perfectly Heidi! I loved this offering! xxoo

Loved this Heidi. We have had our fair share of rain and extremely loud storms down here this summer. Your poem describes our weather wonderfully
