Rose Thorn

Memories of your dress fiddling
your legs in the summer
night breeze
made my heart to leap with ecstacy
that can light a bulb.

The sweet fruit cakes that you have made
for our anniversaries
have been finger-licking good.

.......but.......someone.......a man......
holding holding your hips
and gazing at your face,
is the LAST thing I expected to see;
the album of you and I shrank
at lightning speed at that instant!

The sight left me and you
in love as a myth.........

Ouch! Very real stuff, this. It's difficult to wax all poetic with pain that real and that raw that it taints years of memories in an instant. Great write. Grats on your win. Christopher Thor Britt

this poem leaves me wondering if the "myth" is still being lived. The anniversaries hint at a long term relationship and the shrinking album at a slow demise. nicely written word pictures. Congrats on the win.
