Rose Petals

Rose petals were stwern across the floor
a trail of them leading from the door
candles I lit all about the room
it was all to be desired
there was no place for gloom
an atmosphere of love waiting for the passion
that was bubbling inside of us
pressing to escape
we dance to our secret song
gracefully yet like children
inside of us we knew what was building
I looked at you
you looked at me
inevitably we knew what was meant to be
us in between the sheets
our bodies caressing one another
soaring to higher levels
step by step
we smelled rose petals
