Rose Is Beauty

rose is beauty like u
once crushed,
she would dissolve
in the lap of soil,
with her tattered dreams
like every indian women

Thanks for the SoupMail Sneha. So delighted to have you as friend.About this write it's beautiful but not every Indian woman is oppressed. You should know coming from a state like Kerala with it's matriarchal system. Read Kamala Das great poet and feminist from Kerala. Also we have had women leading this country and shining in their chosen fields....your poem is thought provoking. Keep writing.

It was true Sneha, but these days women in India has come forth in many different fields and they are strong enough, for its not only to their family, but the society and the country itself that they have proved their worth... even when crushed they try to stand up, their voice ever stronger... loved your little poem, for it speaks for those subalterns who still suffer... and also of the worth of physical beauty, for once it is destroyed its gone forever

All women are beautiful in their own way. I feel sorry for those women who have to succumb to strict, restraining traditions, and others who fall prey to abuse, both mental and physical. Take care. // paul
