Roots - Bottoms Up
A tree's roots are under the ground
where, with little fanfare or sound
They nourish the tree that we get to see
its trunk and its limbs, its twigs and its leaves
Our focus on powerful branches
or brilliant autumnal scenes--
We know that without sturdy roots deep down
there'd be nary a tree for miles around...
Yet my family tree has its deepest roots on top
Without those brave primogenitors
~ all growth would have stopped
