Rod Andersons Speech Kerry Valley
Rod Andersons
Speech,
Kerry Valley protest 2012...
I want to be clear,
i don’t want to be arrested today.
I’ve been standing over by that strainer post
for the past bloody ten days,
quietly behaving like all of us locals have,
were just concerned
we want the truth.
were sick of the non-transparency.
from our government allowing this sort of stuff,
why don’t you just come out and talk to us
there was no community consultation,
it’s not fair,
i have a little place at the top there
its only small
might be insignificant to some
its my house and my home.
there’s plenty of farmers around here
there’s plenty of community members around here
that are producing good Australian grown produce
there are milkers
and no one is listening to us.
they are treating us like
there’s no one under these hats.
they don’t give a .
we have had a gutful.
i don’t know what its got to take.
for people to listen to the average bloke off the street.
or the average farmer that’s been slipped a mickey *
by the government.
and fancy, I’m just mind blown those good farmers,
and good people with no criminal history,
just blokes off the street who are just trying,
to do the right thing for this country.
are forced to come down here,
and bark at cars like mongrel dogs,
that’s bull ( A dog barks in background ).
it’s not fair.
there’s a lot...
this whole place has been built,
on generations of farmers.
of generations of business people.
that have done the best that they can do.. for this community
and they are putting stuff back into this community
i can’t believe that we have to justify ourselves,
to the government,
and justify our existence and farming,
and concern for the water table,
to the government and to arrow energy.
arrow should be down here justifying their existence,
to have the right to ruin our water.
and the governments letting them do it.
so I’m here to make a stand for all the people who are,
too afraid to come down here,
because of the stand over tactics.
and they didn’t want to be involved,
and they didn’t want to be seen....
they were frightened.
but by gee whiskers there’s a lot of bloody locals who have had enough,
and I’ll tell you what...
if that gas rig or any other rig comes back into this community,
there will be a load more people who are going to stand up,
and then. were in for a good fight.
and I’m putting my hand down in protest,
and all the other people’s hats down there that i know.
who are my mates.
Who have had a gutful.
.....................................
its bloody un-Australian
we need some help out here from our government.
its about time that someone come down and saw us.
and consulted the community.
.....................................
drive over that,
and hands up who wants to be
the first police officer who picks up that Australian flag up outa there...
Note. Theres 20+ police officers glaring at Rod as he makes this speech.
Slipped a mickey means... given a date-rape drug..
Stand over tactics means arrogant bastard police (hired guns for mining companies)..
