Rocky Mountain Rain
Thunder rolls above the peaks
Lightning racing in blinding streaks
Clouds hanging over canyon walls
Waiting, waiting for the rain to fall
Lightning explodes against the cliffs
Flashes of light from heaven, itself
Thunder roars its mighty drum
Waiting, waiting for the rain to come
Flames piercing the blazing heart
Rips the mountain as it tears apart
Still, rain does not appear,
Teasing the mountain as not to hear
The bounding beat of nature’s drum
Waiting, waiting for the rain to come
A vertical lake of water it came
The mountain rose up to meet,
To welcome, to embrace the rain
