River's Magic

I learned to love the river waves lapping ‘neath our boat Glint of sun set the scene a-sparkle as over the waters we’d float Some days the fish were biting others, they stayed out of range No matter the catch, river’s magic never did papa or me shortchange

Rivers indeed have a magic and seem to connect to something deep within us. Your poem speaks a reverence.

Gershon, that is wonderful memories of your father and fishing. Doesn't get much better. Also I wanted to say I gave you a thank you for inspiring my poem opaque shadows. You said you read and read it again. Trying to figure out what it meant. So, I thought if he says that, then what does it mean. The last lines were weak. So I re wrote it. Thank you. I hope you and yours are well. Keep rolling

YEP, a bad day fishing is better than a good day doing most anything else....oh, wait, there is no such thing as a bad day fishing.....an old timer once asked me "Catch anything?", i replied "no", he responded "that's why they call it fishing, not catching"

We both share an affinity for the river. I often accompanied my father to the lakes and rivers where he fished. It was there in the quiet and calm that I understood the depth and beauty of life itself--the scenery everchanging and those 'waves lapping 'neath our boat' You made my day posting this one!

Your connection with your father, strengthened by the time you spend on the river, is a great subject of an excellent poem. You put into words what many feel when they think of the river, fishing, and the tranquility one has when floating on the water.
