Notes About The Poem

The final full moon rises as far north as it ever does — a phenomenon that happens every 18.6 years called a "major lunar standstill."

Rising Moon

Radiant crystals illuminate thee, nocturnal mistress
in the wan dawn light where darkness drapes skies
Requiem aeternam bright halo, lies heaven’s portal
Winters wispy cirrus refracting ring circling
Mohawkin bespeaks of a Christmas cold moon

…December’s icy grip
Riffling ebb and tide, spawner of loon
Let rage and ruin Not be the end of me
Rubaiyat’s rhyme in thy honor
Let the waters settle, quotes of Rumi
Mercurial doomsday ruminates Mina Loy
Reigning ascendant masking impressions
Clouds envelop, shadow’s born shorn
Ravishing stillness, stormy tasks pending…

                        bright white ring of light
rage and ruin’s calmly still ~
                                  not the end of me

Dear Anaya, When I read your eloquent words I thought, what a reflection on the moon's beauty and its influence on nature and human emotions. I also like your literary references. This particular line really stood out to me. "Radiant crystals illuminate thee, nocturnal mistress". Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Daniel, it's so good to see you back. The Sun is what luminates the Moon, Nasa tells us, and in reality, the light that lights all lights! aha. Ty for the kind comments and encouragement. Happy Holidays ahead!

Anaya, you have some powerful forces to contend with…but you have a poetic shield that makes you wonderfully immune from anything negative. It’s a high level of inspiration! Smiles. The moon pictures are wonderful. The sled is funny!!!
