Rise of the Machines

My toaster has two settings
 inferno and brilliant white,
the smoke alarm, because it's bored
goes off sometimes at night.
The smart TV which simplifies
recording for us loons
starts playing back ten minutes in
and finishes too soon.
The microwave 'defrost' setting
has never been much fun
so I take the chicken breast outside
and wave it at the sun.
They say technology will soon
outsmart all of mankind
the march of robots and machines
will leave us all behind,
but me, well I'm not worried
and I won't be losing sleep
at least until tomorrow night
when the smoke alarm goes beep.

It seem that you bought all your machines in the same place I did :) that toaster I swear has a mind of its own and I cannot even boil water for the smoke alarm to go offffff.....bbbzzzzzzzz...... a 7. Great enjoyable read. Viv hugs

Thanks, Eve, as I get older, I seem to struggle more and more with technology- you know, door handles, shoelaces..... Viv x

I love this! I have a grin bound to stay awhile, a grin strong enough to shake off the foxes. This is Viv poetry at it's best, as I remember it. My smoke alarm must have come from the same factory as yours! Thank you for my creative amusement ... CayCay

Indeed, CayCay, I recently had to cobble something together out of wood, with just a saw and some nails. Aaahhhh, the good old days......Viv x
