Notes About The Poem

When does an ogre's right to act impinge on my right to be shielded from the fallout? This has implications for all of our interactions:

rights come with borders

An act-as-they-wish guarantee
Leads brutes to think they’ll tread on me
But I too have rights
And might eschew fights
If backed by a fair referee

Always the right time for a poem of this kind, if we want more people to be kind. Your poem is sound and should be passed around. Like the length as easy to turn into a moan instead of something to educate others. Best regards from this 70 year old in NZ

David, I am of similar age to you, so we have a lot in common. It is better to examine how rights overlap and compromise to promote living together. One of my big peeves is the dismissal of negative externalities by companies that are making our lives more and more difficult. Hope to read more of your work as time goes by. Smiles!!

Neighbor Wars, a show people should see, some see themselves. They need a third opinion! Enjoyed. Healthy Wishes!

Anaya, you speak wisely! There will always be disagreements, but we should have a fair means to handle them. We also need to focus on honoring each other by seeing ourselves as others do, which you allude to. Smiles!!!

Anne-Lise, yes! Our rights and those of others we interact with affect us all. That effect determines how our society functions. I would hope people would try to think of others first, but that doesn't seem to be how we function at least here. Many have the feeling that life is all about me. I'm uncertain how this can end well. Perhaps people like you and I can change the world a little piece at a time. We're trying!! I love that you are kind!!!!

Dear duke, we sure hope it all would be fair and justice will be on the side that deserves it while also reminding ourselves that we all do have our own right to do or express with dignity what we deserve or think and our perspectives too. You have written a very thought provoking powerful limerick really! So well delivered too! Pleasure always reading your work. Hope you are doing well. Sending you light always

IE, thanks for this comment. People often don't realize that our rights intersect with those of others who may not appreciate what we're doing. We need to exercise care and consider how we might need to lower our own profile. Living quietly and not destroying the environment goes a long way to help us live together. This is a major issue in life that affects everything we do really. You get it! Smiles!!

Unless you've money and know people in high places I doubt if it will be a fair fight. Tom

Tom, you are on target with this comment. People with money and high-placed "friends" use the legal system to wear down any opposition or at least delay justice for many years...people even die waiting for just compensation. The influence of those with huge financial resources is a huge problem here now.
