Right On, Liz Cheney

I still believe all politicians are not liars and dishonest Though it is difficult to find those are consistently so Those who will face harsh realities on election day Dishonest peers will work together to see them go. Right on, Liz Cheney! for standing up for what was right Republicans turned their backs on her; she was ousted, She stood like a beacon of justice against Trump’s big lie Proving her words, what was right; it cannot be doubted. Honest politicians have always been scorned by others For they work on principle; for them, values are prized And when confronted by their unscrupulous peers, Most of them are not entirely taken aback or surprised. Many honest politicians voluntarily return to civilian life Eschewing the titles, plans, plush allowances, longevity When they realize they are unable to make a difference, Will trade the lifestyle of Washington for common decency.

One of the few in her party who are VOCAL and have INTEGRITY "She stood like a beacon of justice against Trump’s big lie" I respect her! Thank you for writing this one.

Political parties exist to profit from selling influence, and care not one whit about making the USA a better place for our grandchildren to live; profit TODAY is all that matters. Candidates are selected according to their ability to attract "investments", and once elected, support the best interests of that political party, rather than the best interests of their constituents, bailiwick, or nation. Viva Liz Cheney, daughter of, "What are friends for?" Dick Cheney! Aloha!

I do not know enough about her to comment. It's sad that was vote by party instead of by a person's character. Also thanks for my win on your list. Now I need to work on a villanelle!

I agree with, Tom's comment below. The party is less important than the person I vote for, and I agree with you Milt, and vote for those that care more for their country than their money. Thanks for sharing your views, my friend. Bill

I always vote for the candidate who does most for where I live regardless of what party they're in. You're right though Milton not all politicians are in it for the money. Tom

That makes good sense to me, Tom. I try to vote for the person who I feel has the best interests of our country at heart. Other factors come into play, as well. Thanks for your comment.

Constitutional America Republic didn't foresee professional politicians. Rather citizen statesmen were the order of the day. If the experiment ultimately fails, it will be because of the lack of such individuals and their successors being thwarted and being bought. ~;o/
