Right of Passage

Meandering along a graveled road I saw an opossum with six young’uns Hanging from her tail, quite a load Meandering along a graveled road, She was probably seeking a safer abode I stopped, letting her pass, her luck runs Meandering along a graveled road I saw an opossum with six young’uns.

I love this because there is no better mommy than a mommy opossum.

I suspect that is true, Caren. I cannot imagine how she got all of those babies lined up on her tail.

Indeed. In my opinion, ALL lives are important in their own scheme and in their place. I could never have taken this mother opossum's innocent life away.

I just really admire this kind of circular writing that you do so masterfully. Congratulations Milton!

It's a poetry form with French origins, Marco, often referred to as the format for "lazy" poets. Studying it, you'll figure out why! Nice to hear from you again.

L Milton this poem has, at least to me, a feel of Frost... Robert Frost... Respecting Nature is to nurture oneself. Thank you for these words...

You know, Jeff, reading it over again, I can understand your "feel of Frost." To hear that something I have written is remotely like Frost is such a compliment. Thank you!

Those sights of nature at its best never cease to amaze me, you're left with a good feeling inside. Tom

The title says it all Milton very clever. It was nice you gave that mother the right of way. I hear they clear the ground of ticks they feed on them. I am sure that was quite the sight to see that. Thank you for sharing...

They do, Michael. They are really very helpful animals. I try at all costs to avoid hitting a wild animal on the road. After all, it was their territory before it was ours.
