Right After New Year's
Woke up one morning with an aching head.
Swore he would stop jumping from bed to bed,
and quit this drinking like the doctor said.
Clear up his poor eyes that were always red.
He knew if he didn't he would soon be dead,
and miss that chance to be normal and wed.
He'd be a sober citizen instead -
right after the New Year's champagne and bread.
