Rid of You You were an anchor tied to my feet sinking me down into your dark sea. You thought that I could not be complete without you, but wow! Now I can be me. It’s great to be free of your frustrating ways: all your sulking and moaning and putting me down. You brought me a world in mere varying grays - like days filled with rain in which I might drown. Chorus: Rid of you, rid of you. Now I feel great. It’s like from my shoulders was lifted a weight. I bet that to me you weren’t even true. Better is no one than someone like you. ********************************** The sun feels much warmer now on my skin. The grass now seems greener and bluer is sky. How trusting was I to once let you in. Watch me now, Boy; I’m going to fly. A lark I can be, and my bright song will be my incentive wherever I go to not let a man again do me wrong. With joy I’ll soar above the rainbow. Chorus: Rid of you, rid of you. Now I feel great. It’s like from my shoulders was lifted a weight. I bet that to me you weren’t even true. Better is no one than someone like you. **********************************

Dear Andrea, Beautiful dedication to GH. What a powerful anthem of liberation and self-discovery. Your words speak of breaking free from the constraints of a stifling relationship and accepting a newfound independence. A very inspiring poem, Andrea! - Blessings, Daniel

It's a real pleasure to read poems like this one. Flying is a great metaphor for freedom. We know we have burdens in this life. I am constantly dealing with my mom, there is strife everywhere, my brother-in-law just died suddenly at 70. We don't want extra weight unless it is dealt with honorably as part of commitment--that we can accept, but not the kind you describe in your poem.

People can hold you down and limit your full potential, once you let them go you can soar.... Nicely done Andrea

Getting rid of an unpleasant person might be difficult. You sang it to perfection. Love is a two-way street. Hugs. xx

Dear Andrea, a potent Lyric for sure. I adore your verse "Better is no one than someone like you" - packed with emotion! Once free, one would want to replace one "anchor" with another. The appreciation for being free is keenly felt especially in the third stanza. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

the lyrics do not match up with his song, just with his topic. I had not heard of him either before robert put up his contest
