Notes About The Poem

4/1/2026 for Time for Dessert - Acrostic Challenge 2 Poetry Contest sponsored by Andrea Dietrich

Rice Pudding

Reminiscing, my mind's tongue savors it today.
I wonder what made it taste so good that way.
Could it be that custardy layer near the top?
Every time I start to think of it, I can't stop!
Perhaps, it was the browning of the skin?
Underneath, was it the rice-filled heart within?
Dare I find a recipe and try to make it?
Do you think, Mom's secret, I can only fake it?
I just need a phone booth and a dime.
Next, her number in the sky or a ladder I can climb.
Good heavens! I cede another memory to time.

I always love your creativity like with this challenge you took of mine. Congrats, and in the future, please separate words like rice and pudding with a space between them.

Enjoyed reading your playful poem. I’ve never tried rice pudding but you make it sound good. I did fudge. Best wishes!
