Rhyme Time

There was a time my lines would rhyme
But that was another place, another time

That is now all in the past
For ink and time have flown so fast

I have lost that rhythmic rhyming touch
That touch that meant so very much

Now it has all flown away
For I now have nothing more to say

Nothing more to say
Yet I go ahead and say it anyway

Howdy Donald. I liked this poem. The only thing I would change is the word "FLOW" to "FLOWN". Everything else is spot on. Also, let me tell you, when I read, I say what I think about the poem. Sometimes it's hard to swallow but it's just my opinion. I also give praise where it's due. I'll read more and comment when I feel inspired. I hope that didn't come out the wrong way. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Thank you for you suggestion for I should have noticed that but some time the mind is not fully engaged. Rockman; constructive criticism should always be welcomed.

Feelings that resonate perfectly with me. I can't sit and write compelling rhyme. I have to wait until unbidden it whispers in my ear.

Keep on saying it Donald... I think you still got it! :o) I listened to that George Jones song. It almost made me cry! I remember a lot of his music. Thanks for telling me about that one. And congrats in the contest!

Thank you. Years ago I worked in areas where a lot of these men who were caught in the grip of alcoholism would congregate and we all would kind of look down on them. It was not until I heard the words of that song that I recognized the mental health aspect of their plight.
