Rhyme R Rhythm

I often think of a poem as a song
With imaginary notes to play along
Yet, still the same I must be game
Or else the verse will end up lame

I've got to keep the meter proper
So there isn't any interest dropper
One, two, three, so now do you see
How it takes good rhythm to satisfy me?
