Revolving Doors

Good deeds are less frequent today, which makes living difficult for all Constant struggles and deadlines are battles men and creatures face Pandora’s Box lies broken still as ills and vices escalate Long ago, wise men set upon hearts this old familiar quote ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ No longer is it taught in schools and not in quite enough homes It has been replaced by yet another: ‘Be the first no matter the cost’ And anything less than the best brings little or no acclaim! However, that’s another song to be sung on another day. I do not claim perfection, as like you, sometimes I am negligent Yet we would all do better to make our world a better place Little bits of kindess for a neighbor, l help clearing warlways after a storm In times of trouble, we say, 'Is there something I can do?' When we could be there and offer help along the way Good deeds are seeds planted by people called” Salt of the Earth” They sow and reap, constantly from one generation to the next The firefighters, good policemen, most teachers and nurses too And countless strangers, who hold doors open for another coming through Even poets, who out of kindness, alerts another to an error made We don’t have to wait for Christmas; we can give throughout the year So many little things to do can pass along some light and love Good deeds never flat line. They remain revolving doors! ~*~

I have felt the same at funerals. Why wait until someone is dead to give them flowers? Last line was quite profound... I wish peoples mind were like revolving doors, something you walk in and out of whenever you like. This was very well thought out and I see that words weren't just coming from you head, but inside you.

The good will is so prevalent at Christmas, Audrey, but most of the time it seems to disappear after the holidays. If only Pandora's Box had not been opened, perhaps we would have world peace today. I love that last line: "Good deeds never flatline." How true that the goodness doesn't die - it just seems to hibernate. Dane Ann will love this awesome entry! You don't need me to wish you luck with this one. A winner for sure! Love, Carolyn

Dear poet; your write here surly signifies the pure fact that there are souls still strolling this burdened earth who have that tender spot in their heart, to nurture those in true need! Your write my friend enlightens I am sure, even those who sometimes are too overwhelmed themselves to lend that much needed hand of support; myself included. TY for opening my eyes to the needs of those who are in want, for even the slightest ! TY and have a wonderful New year Audrey! much love, james
