Revolving Doors
Good deeds are less frequent today, which makes living difficult for all
Constant struggles and deadlines are battles men and creatures face
Pandora’s Box lies broken still as ills and vices escalate
Long ago, wise men set upon hearts this old familiar quote
‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’
No longer is it taught in schools and not in quite enough homes
It has been replaced by yet another: ‘Be the first no matter the cost’
And anything less than the best brings little or no acclaim!
However, that’s another song to be sung on another day.
I do not claim perfection, as like you, sometimes I am negligent
Yet we would all do better to make our world a better place
Little bits of kindess for a neighbor, l help clearing warlways after a storm
In times of trouble, we say, 'Is there something I can do?'
When we could be there and offer help along the way
Good deeds are seeds planted by people called” Salt of the Earth”
They sow and reap, constantly from one generation to the next
The firefighters, good policemen, most teachers and nurses too
And countless strangers, who hold doors open for another coming through
Even poets, who out of kindness, alerts another to an error made
We don’t have to wait for Christmas; we can give throughout the year
So many little things to do can pass along some light and love
Good deeds never flat line. They remain revolving doors!
