Revenge

The cause of many a downfall
The seed of much discontent
Revenge is sweet to some
But always has a bitter outcome

Only a fool turns to revenge
And expects no unintended consequences
The bile that sows the seeds for retribution
Can attain an autonomous life
That once released will never again be contained

Anything can cause hurt
When slights have greater value
Than cooperation and fraternity
Hatred can know no bounds
And does not dissipate willingly

Passion feeds revenge and the need to do harm
The rival is dehumanised
Bloodletting thus comes easily
When your brother is no longer a friend to cherish

Ruin is inevitable when revenge is stirred
Hatred is a human emotion
That to some is a great sin
It is best to remember
That when the battle begins
No one ever wins
