Returned to Sender

Sent my friend a birthday card;
So it would not be late,
I mailed it more than one whole week
Before her special date.

Her birthday came and went and yet
She never got my card.
It had the right address and stamp,
So what could be so hard?

Today that card came back to me,
“Return to Sender” stamped.
I think the local P.O.
Really needs to be revamped.

I’ll see that friend a week from now
And hand her what I sent.
The envelope is proof, though,
Of my early-bird intent.

This has been happening to me too often of late and it's worrying! My usual infraction is omitting a stamp on the envelope, or dropping a bill in the rent box not the postal box! / Maurice

Yeah. So disappointing! And the post office has the nerve to keep raising prices. Not soon enough will it go the way of the typewriter and the phone booth... And how about Fed Express? Yesterday I retrieved a package on my stoop about three minutes after it landed there. Everything inside had already been stolen. You know, today's world is more troubled and troubling than ever, methinks... ~ Just sayin', Gershon

Small town post offices are the worst. I had a certified letter thrown out because a postal friend of the receiver thought it was a rental termination. It was not. $15 gone. I agree. P.O. needs to be sold.

P O they just don’t know how much strife they cause. Nicely written.
