Return Me To the 60's Please

Please, mister, take me back in time
To the 1960’s, so sublime
Loan me your machine that changes time
What is wrong, are you a Mime?

Please mister, take me to the days
When everyone was nice in all their ways.
Take me to the 60’s when we were all sunny and fun.
And everyone took care of all the children on the run.

Take me back to a time when everyone’s mom gave you a whack.
Take me back to the time when people cared if you drank from a paper sack.
Take me back to a time when the entire neighborhood was concerned about you, Mack.
Please mister, I am pleading with you, Let me get in your time machine and travel back.

Oh for better, nicer days...we're way beyond that now. Frighteningly beyond it.

I know it seemed not-so-wonderful when you were a kid and everyone in the neighborhood could smack you, but you knew you were loved back then.

I got the wacks too! made me stand up and be straight. the 60's were my prime to follow or be followed. why I write today is what I have learned from by standing in front not behind. enjoyed you pen's past.

Thank you Douglas. I am not into severe whackings, or beatings, and certainly never a belt-whipping. But a swift swat on the bottom to make you think ....yes! Let's go!

Where does he live? I'll go with you and with our persuasion powers doubled, our determination will find a way, even if manipulative, to convince him! YES, neighborhoods where neighbors knew each other and children favored the outdoors to technology, oh, and real meals, affordable houses, still an America to be proud of, no viagra ads or talk shows ... oh, my, your write put my box right under me and I can't stifle my voice! You got me, now let's get the machine! CayCay

CayCay, if this does not spur you on to at least six poems, I do not know you as well as I think. Tag. From one hippie to another, let's do this! Let's remind people about a time when everyone looked out for the children, and no one was in danger of not enough attention and people listened to each other! Tag. You are it!
