Resplendent Respite

Stop me in my beaten path
knee length grass a shadowed wall
of silver flecks and breeze stung bugs
to hide my soul for awhile
Blanket down on rocks and stones
of melted heat and shocking moon
to count the clouds, to name a few
and feel like the earth finally knows me
Dragonflies land on my toes
Crickets dance while fireflies glow
To slip and slip as the night absorbs
my heat, my heart, my fury
Pack up and it's time to go
Scent of the ground in my hair and my clothes
Turn toward the breezes with nothing to know
but the whistling of wind in my bones...
