Resolutions

Are the bells ringing?
Is the howling wind of change blowing cold and wild just outside the door?
No, the air is quiet , the world is still
The night is the same as it was before
I want to think that one star will wink at me as I stand here under the midnight sky
still trying to believe in magic of some kind
I want to close my eyes and wake up to a New Year a new heart a new life a new start
I'll toss and turn with my old self all night
Thinking about all the work that needs to be done
This is the easiest part, overwhelming ourselves
It should be harder to make promises, as hard as it is to keep them
The words should stick to our tounges , and beg for passage from our lips
Instead we declare our wishes to the world screaming our desires into existence
So many dreams end in echoes
Then silence again, until the bells ring
Until the winds of change blow cold and wild outside our doors
Till we declare our desires to the world once more
