Resolution

this new year
I cannot hold on to hate
I have clutched in my heart
all this time
so I let it go
negative memories
fade like melting snow
slipping from mountaintops
like blurry scribbles
in an old diary
or a yellowed photograph
the faint outlines there
to be reminded of
to be forgiven
not forgotten
