Resilience of the Heart

Resilience of the Heart

And he will come to you like a wind
A soft breeze caressing your weary face
With a voice full of forevers
Words of understanding, polished and molded just for you
For on that day, you will have found that elusive special heart
The one that matches yours
Compassion and empathy its namesake
Your heart will proclaim his significance

But one day his wind will turn to storm
And when you survey the devastation and debris
You will know he is not the one
And you will doubt the possibility of survival
But you will
For the heart is resilient and strong
You will survive
One awful day at a time

Yes, the heart indeed can be easily broken. I've felt the gut wrenching sickness that comes from a betrayal of fidelity. And witnessed the betrayal with my own eyes no less. I weathered a category 5 hurricane that night. But with time, I learned to love again.
