Poor William! I am astounded and sad that educators no longer have the clout to teach what educators think need to be taught. That parents who have never taught are guiding the curriculum these days is proof that things are amiss.

Shame as some great literature comes from Shakespeare, he was ahead of his time . His house is always full of tourists' so some still love his works. Tom.

Thank you!... This is biographical by the way. I fought the good fight for Shakespeare from 1990 - 2015. The last two years were murder, as the parents joined the students in attacking my every assignment. A great man once told me that one can only teach as much to a kid as his parents want him to learn. With that, I quit teaching English literature. (Stayed on teaching ESL until April of this year, when I had to bow out there to due to some unsolvable health issues. Oh, well. Old before my time, I am. :) gw

Thanks for the support, Stan. I fought the good fight for 25 years, from age 40 to 65, but I finally had to wave the white flag when the parents joined their student sons in opposing my every attempt to teach Shakespeare. Oh, well... :) gw
