Remorse of a Ruler

I have walked through the world with kings
Thinking my wealth and power could justify the end
I have ignored the cries of the many
And fed the selfishness of the few
There will be none crying for my soul
For I leave behind no legacy of honor
And now upon my dying breath
I have failed to justify who I have become
There is no coin to balance the tray
So I cannot deal or barter for my soul
I now know I will be laid to rest in a place for the forgotten
And forced to dwell upon the misery I created in life
