Reminiscence of Coleridge

"Memoir for a listener's ear."

                                Quote by Brian Strand

Let me share a reminiscence of Coleridge's life with you . . .

born in 1772, the youngest of ten children
Samuel was an avid reader from a young age
liked the solitude of being a loner deep an calm
after his fathers death, when he was only eight
he was sent to a charity school, a silent loner still
spending his childhood writing poetry and reading books
with musings, and pauses of thoughts
soon, he was having crippling bouts of anxiety
and was physically unhealthy - treated with opium
becoming addicted- yet, he still wrote with the highs and lows
in 1796 he published his first book, Poems on Various Subjects
and his writing grew and grew, it was a turbulent career and life
still, he married and had four children- they distanced themselves
because of his addiction to opium, alone again with hauntings
he died on 1834, age 61 of heart failure, forever hushed
              in Highgate, Middlesex England
after his death he became one of the most
influential figures in English Poetry . . .
