Remembering
In that peaceful, almost sleep
My mind goes wandering back
Along the pathways of my life
Recapturing moments again
I remember with a blush
When he first kissed me
And the sadness that I felt
When he left this world forever
I try to imagine my little one
That I never got to hold
Had he lived
He would have been
Twenty six years old
Thoughts are like a chain
One link connects another
Memories of childhood
Sharing with my brother
Talking to him on the phone
Just the other day
Made me think of games
He and I used to play
That brings to mind
My best friend
And nights spent giggling
I tried to call her
But, no one was there
So I’m just lying here
Remembering
Some memories
Are so bittersweet
Others sweet as sugar
Some I will not allow
To surface in my mind at all
God has made us this way
With the ability to store
Mementos from the past
For future pondering
So as I wait for sleep to claim
My tired, old, weary frame
My memories I treasure
As I visit them again
