Remember When

Do you remember when........ We played imaginary games as kids? The PC Police did not flip their lids. It was truly a magical time to be. Cowboys, Indians, yes and we climbed trees. Police vs bad guys , that was no sin! I had a silver cap gun, not made of tin. Funny, there was not a hint of violence. We were raised by parents with a God and common sense! We had an American flag on a tall pole in the backyard. We pledged to it, and were not called flaming retards. Oh, days of fresh candy and ice cream And products American made, by Sunbeam. We wore real shoes made of leather. There were no daily murders, our lives floating as if they were the Creator's shining feathers. We had polio, flu, measles and many illnesses, too. Yet, when well~ we all went happily back to school Nobody would dream of hitting a teacher back then. But get real, it's happening now and God, please help them? All those cuss words we hear from children today? They didn't exist at all in my girlhood days. Of children's lost innocence, I wish to wail and weep. In this insane world, what do they dream, my friends, of when those angels are sleep? They are forbidden to socialize! Keep a distance from friends, wear a mask and normalize? Grandparents peering at their grandchildren through a window? Facetiming with no hugs or kisses, is this anyway for children to grow? Baseball with cardboard fans in the stands? No more beautiful weddings with dancing, twirling to a band? I am more than happy to leave this lockdowned earth. Having no freedom, is a the saddest dearth.          July 25, 2020 8:45pm PST

You've described much of my childhood, Panagiota. I am saddened by all the crime and dangers that strip children of the freedom to roam that we once had.

Unless, people have been on the planet as long as we have, they may not have experienced these past days Of sheer innocence, no fights, no bloodshed...Music was pleasant, not "nasty" as current music is. Violence on TV was ZERO when we were young. Today's kids see murder, mayhem, sex and violence. I do not know how kids grow up sane in these times. Roaming was wonderful. We were ten and allowed to travel to downtown Chicago with no parents. As an adult, I would go nowhere near downtown, Grant Park or to Chicago at all~ where I grew up. I worry for my friends who still live there. Many live in fear. Well, we sure were lucky in the older days....Pangie xx

HEY, BOB, "SUBLIME TIME" IS A PERFECT DESCRIPTION. WE USED TO GO TO WISCONSIN TO STARVED ROCK. IT'S A LOVELY PLACE. WE NEVER HATED INDIANS. WE APPRECIATED THAT CULTURE AS WE DID THE MULTICULTURALISM OF CHICAGO. WESTERNS FEATURED COWBOYS AND INDIANS. SUCH TOUCHINESS ABOUT CULTURES THESE DAYS. WE ALL COULD BE PART INDIAN. THAT WOULD BE GREAT. ALL CULTURES HERE ALL COLORS SHOULD BE HONORED. I KNOW IT'S NOT THAT WAY RIGHT NOW. WHICH SADDENS ME.....THANKS, BOB. PANGIE xx
