Remember Their Light
The air grows still, a nation's breath held deep,
A Memorial Day promise, sacred to keep.
For fallen soldiers, heroes of the past,
Whose shadows linger, memories that last.
In solemn hush, we bow our heads in thought,
Of battles waged, and freedoms dearly fought.
They gave their all, on fields of sweat and pain,
A sacrifice for us, pouring out their crimson rain.
Now becoming heavenly guardians, standing tall and proud,
Whose vigilance surrounds us,
In the roaring crowd and quiet moments, they watch over us still,
Protecting freedom, with unwavering will.
The echoes linger, of a bugle's mournful call,
Of comrades lost, who gave their all.
They marched to war, with courage as their shield,
And some found rest, upon the battlefield.
Now angels guard, on heights beyond our sight,
Their spirits shine, within eternal light.
With flag at half-mast, a visual decree,
A silent tribute, for all the world to see.
A fleeting moment, held within our grasp,
For youthful lives, cut short, beyond our rasp.
But silence falls short, a debt we cannot pay,
For all they suffered, every single day.
They fought a lifetime, for a future free,
More than this instant, for you and for me.
So let us live, with gratitude and grace,
And honor them, every time and no matter the place.
And let us think of those still standing strong,
Protecting us from all that could go wrong.
Remember those who marched to the battlefield, and did not make it home,
But marched to heaven, finding peace, in God's home.
So, hold this silence, let it deeply ring,
But knowing their sacrifice is everything.
On this Memorial Day, vow before the sun,
To never forget what they have done,
Then and now, their memories will forever burn.
