Remember the Daffodil

Sunken cheeks and hallow eyes, pasty skin, it consumes, it wastes your body, no breath left, no disguise. Like the rush of the wind, a freight train, you are told, I am sorry you will not grow old. “Remember the Daffodil”

Cancer is brutal and death often wins. Loss of hair, extreme despair, a disease so unfair, it has no regrets, it has no friends, it destroys lives, it makes no amends. “Remember the Daffodil”.

It does not care who, or what, and when, it does not speculate, or reason why, its goal its intention is for you or your loved ones to die. It is the ultimate perfectionist with no discrimination for age, or race, nor any religion. “Remember the Daffodil”

Like the Daffodil, we are bright, standing strong on sturdy stocks, glowing love, full of hope we will never turn our backs away from the sun, nor from you nor from anyone. We are the support, the force against despair for when the freight train attacks, we are here for you with no looking back. 'Remember the Daffodil"

We may sway, bend, crack, and wither but our roots are firm and year after year we are here, we flower, we deliver on our promise “we are with you until the end”, like it was for past family, like for past friends. “Remember the Daffodil”

So for those who are about to battle, or for those we soon will lose, the tragedy will continue, that is the bad news. Our tears form puddles but have no fear, always remember we never disappear. Hope never ends, remember we are family, we are friends, we will be with you, we promise until the end. “Remember the Daffodil”…Poetry by Dean.
