Notes About The Poem

So, I've been away from poetry soup for a while. I moved, started college, had to graduate, basically 2016 was a crazy year. Now I'm preparing for a service mission and have some down time. I was reading my work and decided I don't like some of the lyrics to songs I posted because really songs are a form of poetry, but don't read well. I decided to revise some of my lyrics into a poem format that works better for the site. I won't take down the old version though, so don't worry if you liked them. :)

Remember Me - Revised To Poem

Hey, its been a while
10 or 20 years I guess
I'm just in denial
How did we grow so old
Since we were young and bold
Remember the times we used to have?
Just the two of us lying on the sand.

Hey haven't seen you around
Guess I haven't seen you since
I got outta this town
Remember the days
By the riverside
Don't remember who pushed whom in
But if we fought I would always win.

I guess I'll see you again
In another 10
We'll remember the days
it doesn't have to be that way
Take my hand
I won't lead you astray
You trusted me then, remember the days...

Remember the laughter
And the music we shared
Remember the good times?
I wish we were there
Back in the days when we were free
All I had was you
All you had was me
Remember the secrets
told in firelight?
Remember the sweetness
Of smore’s cooked just right?
Back in the days when we were free
All I had was you
All you had was me
Remember the laughter
And the music we shared
Remember the good times?
I wish we were there
