Notes About The Poem

Written June 21 2026 for contest Remember Me sponsor Silent One

Remember Me

When the last lavender days of my youth fade
Into the onyx ocean of times teal waves
Look upon me with your mind’s eyes
And see my mature mahogany heart
Untouched by turquoise thoughts and time

May the silky silver halo of hair
Upon head now like a dare
Be as magical as tinsel on a Christmas tree
Anoint me as seasoned and saintly
Bending in white wind so as not to break

Remember me as a humble spirit a servant
With winged words of wisdom to
Encourage and uplift despite dilemmas
One poet painted purple by love
Then like a karma chameleon changing
Colors to meet your moods where they are

To brighten where you find too much darkness
To darken where you’re overwhelmed by light
To soothe your spirit as a soulful song
Melodic and sweet as an angelic symphony
Written by the Creator especially for you

Remember me as a rainbow in your sky
Reflecting all of your colorful dreams
Relishing your red reveries that inspire
That move magenta mountains
Despite their majesty with one pearly prayer

Remember our jade journey and passion
The gifts we accumulated from life
Perhaps enhanced by my passing
Like salty seeds from a sunflower
Golden petals that look up to heaven

When you are mourning your loss
Let remembrance be a green gain
As a blue blessing that lifts you
Like wings of a black bird
Remember me, deeply breathe and smile

Remember me as the rainbow in your sky... how lovely is that and wouldnt everyone want to be remembered in this way.... I could feel the yearning to be remembered when one is no more through each stanza of your poem and wonderfu lines like, "golden petals that look up to heaven." The ending concludes your poem perfectly and states how remembering someone is not just about sadness, but also uplifting due to all the wonderful memories left behind.. Congratulations on your placement..
