Rejuvenate
When the fragile moment of youth has departed
and age begins to cross my path,
I didn't want to acknowledge it !
Suddenly I grew thicker in the middle,
My eyes no longer focused.
My brows began to droop
and I had to pluck hair from new places.
Then I discovered I had a turtle neck
that I didn't have to buy.
My shoulders pained as I combed my hair.
My breasts found a new resting place.
My hips started carrying extra luggage,
and my legs dimpled as they led down to feet
that hinged on weak ankles.
My toes cramp and twist and swell
as though they have had enough.
When that fragile moment of youth departed
the burden of existence finally became a reality.
So...
I've gone ahead and drawn on the best brows.
I'm wearing the latest style glasses,
going to the hair dresser and donning pretty scarfs.
I've crossed my heart with Maiden Form
and am wearing longer skirts.
I now caress my legs with the finest silk
and dress my feet in comfort.
I've also placed a positive attitude within my brain
so it cannot escape,
because even within my thick skull my mind occasionally
loses its ability to recall yesterday.
And since life has more to offer I plan on taking it!
