Rejection

I promised you I’d never bring you tears,
My loving you has brought you lonely tears,
I have no answers to those darkest fears.
I promised I’d give you all that I can,
My heart’s longing to be all that it can,
But our love, it was not destiny’s plan.
To see you cry, it broke my heart in two,
Each tear from your eyes ripped my soul in two,
You told me to leave what else could I do?
You pushed me away into the cold night,
Preferring to dwell in the dark of night,
And I could do nothing to make it right.
You pushed me away, I wanted to stay,
With old words of love you could never say.
