Rejected

The breeze kissed my finger tips as you slipped from my grasp, floating slowly, gently with tender dancing petals, to rest in the waiting hands of the cool deep water. Your blood red lips beckon me to follow your lilting whirl through each step of your careening slow waltz as the pulsing ripples lead the scarlet of your cloak further and further from my enchanted eyes. Slowly resigning yourself to your inevitable fate you disappear beneath the languid swells to a watery grave, never more to grace the world with your beautiful smile. I cast you away as a token of my affection rejected by the one who could save me from me. You, my memory, you my heart, you the light that sings to my soul, now the flower that I have cast into oblivion. I watch transfixed as the fading brilliance of each lonely tear mingles indifferently into the dark pool that surrounds you, and I slowly drown in your darkness as you disappear from my sight.
