Regret

Salty tear drops fell as her heart broke.
Hopes and dreams evaporated like smoke.
She wanted forevermore!
Not another closed door?
Drowned by memories, that threatened to choke.

Trapped into the detritus of her own mind.
Another love contract left unsigned.
Frozen into inaction!
An incomplete fraction.
Accept destiny that has been assigned?

A shattered heart maybe beyond repair.
Unlucky in love, a fate most unfair!
Does she dare keep trying?
Her crushed heart is dying.
Reluctant to love, her final declare.

Hi Cecilia! Love affairs can bring both joy and pain. Some people are born unlucky in love, and in the end they give up and shy away in fear of getting hurt repeatedly. Your poem makes this amply clear. Hope true love will come your way again:) // paul

I see you took the serious route in this contest my friend and it is VERY effective! A shattered heart can be repaired but then there are those nasty scars, but the scars give us insight and wisdom which you have displayed here...You are growing by leaps and bounds as a poet, Cecilia and I am SO happy to see you entering and winning contests! - Tim
