Regret

Stalking the nighttime woods
Moonlight pouring from a crack in the sky
Bleeding light into the darkened world
My soul beyond my body
Not inside me
Part of me is out there
Part of you is out there as well
That is all we have in common any longer
Your shadows are everywhere
Every step taken alone
Is a step we once took together
Gave you all the love my heart could hold
You had my heart
You had my soul
It was true
I’m sad to say I miss you
It is on these nighttime saunters
That I have come to realize
Regret is not looking back
On all the should haves and could haves
No the grief of regret is looking forward
Through misty eyes
On an unbearable future
Where you are not there
I have found
I cannot remake the world
With the shear force of Love
