Reflections
A ship is floating near the dock
The water undisturbed
Reflects such vivid imagery
The two could be reversed
A lone seagull perched on the bow
Stares at the bird below
At length, he plunges through the tide
Ascends with fish in tow
I saw two birds crash violently
But only one emerged
Its twin beneath had disappeared
The ripples caused its purge
I watched the gull consume its meal
And glide off on the wind
And soon, once more, the drink was calm
With one less fish therein
Set me reflecting on my life
The ripples I create
Would that they all were purposeful
Without destructive wake
