Reflections
Just recently, upon a winter, so long, so cold, so mean
I stopped to reflect upon summers past; so warm, so bright, so green
I stumbled about a darkened house; made dim by a raging storm outside.
I thought about the warmth of spring; the joy and comfort of my bride.
I paused before a mirror; gaze upon the reflection of my aging face.
I think of times now long gone by; ponder why time does so quickly race.
I wondered at the twists of fate; the path that brought me here.
I remember my many friends and family; folks I continue to hold so very dear.
I think about the distant past; the generations that have gone before
I realize that the likes of me and mine; are what they were living for.
I ponder on one question; the real meaning of my life
I give thanks for all the good things; especially for my loving wife.
I am thankful for my children; now with children of their own.
As we grow older, to face the future; but hopefully not alone
Oh so hopefully not alone.
