Reflections

There’s something about forty I now see my mom and dad As I peer into the mirror When I’m happy or I’m sad I see their joyful smiles Often when I am glad I see their frowning faces Occasionally when I get mad Reflections of them now Forever on and on They live inside somehow For we share a common bond I have my father’s eyes I’ve got my mothers smile It’s funny to see them every day As I haven’t seen them in a while So now, take at look at you You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find If you can’t see it yet, it’s true Just give it some more time

Deborah, love the flow and rhyme of this piece and I too see within me my father and mother, in fact they're the better parts of me LOL Wonderful writing! Michael

These words are true. I see my parents in the mirror every day, and I see myself in my children's faces and more, as they mature. Insightful poem. Good job! fondly, Carrie
