Notes About The Poem

- Red Winged Thrush -

~ spring is a time for quiet thoughts
               - it is impossible to explain what is happening to your soul ~

It's spring and you believe the birds are singing for you
The birds do not sacrifice us humans
a single thought where they sit in the treetops and sing

A red-winged thrush sits in the cherry tree
it has returned from its winter sojourn
It rests a little in my garden

A young red-winged thrush chirps hopefully into the air
Not looking for food, but a partner
                                          He's a real charmer
                                       It's the males who sing,
                                   while the females fly around
and trying to find the one who sings
the most charming song for the nest of love

Enchanting and "charming" as the song of returning birds from "exile" Anne Lise! Birds really are the place markers for the gradual return of spring! Congratulations on your win.

Oh, I love the way you have the male birds seeking "the most charming song for the nest of love." That's what I would look for as well. Beautiful imagery, Sunshine! Best wishes for a big win in Constance's contest. Hugs, Carolyn
