Red, White and Blue

Is the land of the free
What it used to be
In it's current state
Do we wait and see

Do we continue to write words
For others to read
Or do we do something about it
And follow our lead

For things to be done
Things have to be said
Written down
And the aggrieved fed

People should stand
And declare their thoughts
With the promise of truth
For in the past we've been bought

The world has changed
From the forefathers time
Politics are different
In this world we find

Races are mixed
But we all are affected
It was not by magic
That they were elected

If they are voted in
We can vote them out
Gather together
And let your words shout

For they work for us
We don't work for them
With the write of a cross
Political condemn

The land of the free
Is all around
It is our flag
It is our ground

To be elected
Remember where you came from
Be what you were
And continue to be strong

For the votes were cast
You have to stay true
Do what you promised
For the Red, White and Blue

I guess I am just a kid at heart which made me write my Cupid poem.. an incurable romantic too... Red, White and Blue is both stirring with much insight to past and current situations... I would send a copy to the White House... its important to remind them of the things that have been forgotten... terrific .. moving .. poem ... Linda-Marie

Great poem James with a good clear message.I can't hold an elected official to his promises anymore.I just expect they're over exaggerating on the campaign trail to win over votes. That's how it's always been and will always be.People don't want the facts as much as a justification for anger. If the facts can't give them that satisfaction along come the negative campaign ads that do.Obama is the closest I've ever seen to an honest politician, one I daresay I actually trust...that's just me though.

Many of us are feeling betrayed by those we elected to represent our points of view. We are losing faith in the "Red, White and Blue" and I'm glad you reminded elected officials to "remember where you came from." They'll be going back to that place after the next election because we're fed up with partisan politics. Maybe I sound unpatriotic, but nothing could be farther from the truth. I just expect elected officials to keep to their word. Awesome, James! Love you, Carolyn
