Red Queen Dethroned
Red Queen Dethroned
Piteous, the limpid bloodstained rose
stunned by Winter’s violent pose
color draining onto hoar frost blade
Red Queen, dethroned, to decompose
beneath the howl of ice-bound serenade.
Conception’s threshold - trembling roots
nurturing the hope of fetal shoots
huddled from the dismal bite of frost
holding against the crush of heartless brutes
Knowing spring is not a “Paradise Lost”*
